नयी दिल्ली। राष्ट्र निर्माण में रक्षा बजट की भूमिका को रेखांकित करते हुये सेना प्रमुख जनरल बिपिन रावत ने आज कहा कि देश सुरक्षित होगा तो अर्थव्यवस्था स्वयं विकसित होगी।

जनरल रावत ने यहां ‘सेंटर फॉर लैंड वॉरफेयर स्टेडीज’ के वार्षिक सम्मेलन में कहा कि नागरिकाें और जवानों में हमेशा रक्षा बजट को लेकर चिंता दर्शायी जाती है। सेना मुख्यालय में इसे लेकर अध्ययन किया गया है जिसमें यह बात सामने आयी है कि रक्षा का राष्ट्र निर्माण में 35 से 37 प्रतिशत योगदान होता है। वह रक्षा बजट बढ़ने के कारण सरकारी खजाने पर पड़ने वाले भार लेकर दर्शायी चिंताओं का जवाब दे रहे थे।

उन्होंने कहा कि सैनिक जहाँ तैनात रहते हैं वहाँ से स्थानीय खरीद भी करते हैं। इससे उस इलाके का विकास होता है। इसके अलावा सैनिक ईमानदारी से आयकर चुकाते हैं।

उन्होेंने कहा कि आर्थिक विकास, सैन्य आधुनिकीकरण और सेना की मौजूदगी एक साथ होनी चाहिये। इन्हें एक-दूसरे से अलग नहीं किया जा सकता। अगर राष्ट्र सुरक्षित होगा तो आर्थिक विकास भी हाेगा।
